It teaches that outer reverence without inner bhāva is incomplete; humility and sincere repentance open the way for grace, aligning with Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on Śiva’s anugraha (divine favor).
Linga-worship and all Saguna forms are meant to awaken inner devotion; this verse underscores that gestures like praṇāma become spiritually fruitful when performed with heartfelt awareness of the divine presence.
Practice praṇāma and japa with bhāva—pause, recollect the deity/guru with reverence, and then offer salutations; this same inner sincerity is to be carried into mantra-japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and daily worship.
