तारकपीडितदेवशरणागतिḥ — The Devas Seek Refuge from Tāraka
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
It highlights bondage: when consciousness is ruled by adharma and demonic tendencies, people lose svatantratā (inner freedom) and become compelled to serve lower impulses—contrary to liberation through Shiva, the Pati (Lord) who alone grants true independence.
Serving the “great demon” symbolizes serving pāśa (bondage). Turning to Saguna Shiva through Linga-worship redirects service toward the true Lord, purifying dharma and freeing the devotee from coercive, worldly subservience.
Choose service to Shiva over bondage: steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with vibhūti (Tripuṇḍra) and/or rudrākṣa supports detachment from adharma and nurtures inner freedom.
