Himācala (Himavān, King of the Mountains)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Mantra: देवदेव महादेव करुणाकर शंकर । पश्य मां शरणम्प्राप्तमुन्मील्य नयने विभो
Type: stotra
It expresses śaraṇāgati (complete surrender) to Pati (Śiva), invoking His karuṇā (grace) as the liberating power that turns the soul from bondage toward divine protection and fulfillment.
The verse addresses Śiva in personal, saguna form—Śaṅkara who ‘sees’ and responds—mirroring how devotees approach the Śiva-liṅga as the accessible presence of the transcendent Lord who grants grace to the surrendered.
A practical takeaway is humble prayer with surrender while japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), combined with simple Śiva-upacāra such as vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and focused dhyāna on Śiva’s compassionate gaze.
