Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Frames kathā-śravaṇa as a purifier: removal of pāpa and attainment of śobhanā (auspicious welfare) and iṣṭa-phala; in Siddhānta terms, it hints at Śiva’s anugraha loosening pāśa (bondage).
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It teaches the Shaiva principle that śravaṇa (devout listening to Shiva’s sacred account) burns pāpa and produces śivānugraha—auspiciousness that supports both worldly well-being and the path toward liberation.
The verse highlights that approaching Saguna Shiva through narrative-hearing and devotion is itself a valid upāsanā; such śravaṇa prepares the mind for Linga-worship by purifying impurities and strengthening bhakti.
Regular śravaṇa/pārāyaṇa of Shiva Purana (especially on Mondays or Mahāśivarātri), ideally with simple supports like japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and respectful observances, is implied as the practical takeaway.
