अत्रीश्वरमाहात्म्यवर्णनम् (Atrīśvara-māhātmya-varṇanam) — “Account of the Greatness of Atrīśvara”
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: This is a ‘liṅga-prādurbhāva’ motif: Śiva, pleased by dharma and devotion, becomes manifest from a Pārthiva (earth-made) liṅga. It models how the formless Lord accepts a concrete support (liṅga) for the devotee’s accessibility.
Significance: Affirms that sincere bhakti and purity can invoke immediate divine presence; Pārthiva-liṅga worship is portrayed as especially quick in yielding Śiva’s prasāda.
Type: panchakshara
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
The verse teaches that Mahādeva responds to inner purity and dharmic steadfastness—here, Anasūyā’s pātivratya—by granting direct grace (prasāda) and making Himself manifest, showing the Siddhānta theme that the Lord’s anugraha liberates the bound soul.
It highlights Saguna Shiva’s accessibility through Liṅga-upāsanā: even an earthen (pārthiva) Liṅga, when worshiped with sincerity and virtue, becomes a locus for Shiva’s real presence and blessing.
Pārthiva Liṅga pūjā (worship of an earth-made Liṅga) with mantra-japa—especially the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and a life of restraint and purity is implied as the practical takeaway.
