गौतमस्य शिवदर्शनं पापक्षयवचनं च | Gautama’s Vision of Śiva and the Teaching on Sin and Purification

त्वदीयदर्शनाल्लोका निष्पापाश्च भवंति हि । किं पुनस्त्वं सपापोऽसि मद्भक्तिनिरतस्सदा

tvadīyadarśanāllokā niṣpāpāśca bhavaṃti hi | kiṃ punastvaṃ sapāpo'si madbhaktiniratassadā

Schon durch deinen bloßen Anblick werden die Menschen wahrhaft sündlos. Wie könntest du selbst da sündig sein—da du stets in Bhakti, in hingebungsvoller Verehrung zu Mir, Śiva, verweilst?

The verse teaches that Shiva-bhakti and Shiva’s grace purify pāpa: one who is steadfast in devotion becomes a vessel of sanctity, so even their darśana uplifts and cleanses others.

It supports Saguna worship through darśana—seeing Shiva (especially as the Jyotirlinga) is not merely symbolic but grace-bearing, and devotion to that manifested form removes impurity and strengthens liberation-oriented faith.
