ऋषिपत्न्यो वयं पूर्वं ग्रहीष्यामो विदूरतः । पश्चाच्चैव जलं ग्राह्यमित्येवं पर्यभर्त्सयन्
ṛṣipatnyo vayaṃ pūrvaṃ grahīṣyāmo vidūrataḥ | paścāccaiva jalaṃ grāhyamityevaṃ paryabhartsayan
„Wir sind die Gattinnen der ṛṣis; wir werden das Wasser zuerst nehmen, aus der Ferne. Erst danach soll das Wasser geschöpft werden.“ So sprachen sie und schalten und tadelten (die anderen).

In Linga-worship, offerings like water are not merely physical; they express inner discipline. The verse highlights orderly, respectful procedure—an outer sign of inward devotion to Saguna Shiva.
A practical takeaway is to perform water-offering (jala/abhisheka) with cleanliness, composure, and prescribed order—pairing the act with mantra-japa such as the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
