Episode of Obstacles to Gautama; Gaṇeśa’s Appearing Through Misguided Worship
Ganesha
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
It stresses the stability of inner disposition (saṃskāra): sustained adharma does not yield true sādhutā, and established virtue does not easily collapse—encouraging steadfast dharmic living aligned with Shiva’s order (ṛta).
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana is not merely external; it presumes inner purity and right conduct. The verse implies that devotion (bhakti) becomes fruitful when the devotee’s nature is grounded in dharma, not hypocrisy.
Adopt daily Shiva-oriented discipline: japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a vow of truthful, non-harmful conduct—so outer worship (archana, bhasma/Tripuṇḍra) matches inner sādhutā.
