It teaches that dawn recitation of Shiva’s twelve names purifies karmic impurity (pāpa) and brings the mature fruits of sādhana—ultimately by invoking Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
In the Koṭirudrasaṃhitā context of Jyotirlingas, the “twelve names” are approached as Saguna Shiva—Shiva made accessible through sacred name and holy seat—supporting devotion that leads the devotee toward the highest reality.
Rise at dawn (brahma-muhūrta) and recite the twelve names with focused mind as nāma-japa; it may be paired with simple Shiva worship such as offering water to the Linga and mentally remembering Om Namaḥ Śivāya.
