Description of Śiva Meditation and Worship
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Aghoramūrti
It teaches a contemplative mapping of Śiva’s aspects (Aghora, Vāma, Sadyojāta) onto inner spiritual loci—heart and hidden mystery—so the sādhaka recognizes the Lord as the indwelling Pati whose energies (kalās) pervade and structure spiritual realization.
The verse supports Saguna upāsanā by giving specific divine aspects to meditate upon; in Linga worship, these become inner visualizations and mantric identifications, treating the Linga as the unified seat of Śiva’s multiple faces/energies rather than a mere symbol.
A dhyāna practice is implied: while performing pūjā (often with bhasma/tripuṇḍra and mantra-japa), contemplate Aghora in the heart, Vāma as the inner secret, and Sadyojāta as the manifest form, integrating mantra and visualization into one-pointed worship.
