(Nyāsa-varṇanam) — Description of Nyāsa in the Saṃnyāsa Procedure
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: gayatri
Role: teaching
It establishes the mantra-śāstra framework (ṛṣi–chandas–devatā) and teaches a Shaiva insight: even Sūrya worship, when properly understood, culminates in Maheśvara as the supreme Lord (Pati) behind all cosmic powers.
By identifying Sūrya with Maheśvara, the verse supports Saguna upāsanā where divine functions (like solar radiance) are seen as expressions of Śiva; thus worship offered through a form or deity is ultimately directed to Śiva, the inner ruler of all.
Recite the Saura-mantra in the Gāyatrī metre with correct remembrance of its ṛṣi (Devabhāga) and devatā (Sūrya as Maheśvara), using focused dhyāna on Śiva’s presence as the light of consciousness within the sun.
