Paramātma-Svarūpa-Nirṇaya: Strī–Puṃ–Napuṃsaka-Vicāra
Inquiry into the Supreme Self and Gendered Forms
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
It teaches that ultimate truth is self-evident in the inner Self, while argument and confusion arise from identification with the body–mind complex (deha–indriya–manas–buddhi–ahaṁkāra), a key Shaiva Siddhanta diagnosis of bondage (pāśa).
Linga/Saguna Shiva worship disciplines the senses and purifies mind and ego; by offering the ‘I’ into Shiva, the devotee moves from ego-based contention toward the Self-established certainty that Shiva alone is Pati (Lord) beyond the instruments of individuality.
Practice ego-thinning devotion: japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady breath and awareness, and inner detachment from body and thoughts; this aligns with Shiva’s teaching that disputes are born from ahaṁkāra.
