Wisse auch dies: Wenn Wesen dem Empfinden der Einheit entgegengehen, erscheint dennoch die weltliche Konvention – als „ich weiß“ und „ich tue“ –, selbst während man sich jener Einheit nähert.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakshinamurti
Role: teaching
It teaches that even as a seeker approaches unity with Shiva (Pati), the habitual ego-notion of ‘I know’ and ‘I do’ can still appear as part of worldly functioning; liberation involves seeing this as mere vyavahāra rather than ultimate truth.
Linga worship trains the mind to shift from limited individuality toward Shiva-consciousness; this verse explains why, despite devotion and inner oneness, ordinary speech and action may continue—yet the devotee learns to offer all knowing and doing to Shiva.
Practice japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with bhāva of surrender, observing ‘I know/I do’ as passing mental conventions and mentally offering every act (kriyā) and thought (jñāna) into Shiva.
