Daraufhin durchbohrte Rāvaṇas Sohn, vom Zorn entflammt und furchtbar an Kraft, Lakṣmaṇa im Kampf mit tausend Pfeilen, ihn immer wieder treffend.
Then enraged Ravana's son endowed with terrific valour pierced Lakshmana with a thousand arrows.
The verse frames battle as a domain of tested duty: dharma is not merely victory but endurance and disciplined engagement under pressure, even when the opponent escalates violence.
Indrajit retaliates fiercely, showering Lakṣmaṇa with an overwhelming barrage of arrows.
For the scene overall, perseverance under assault is foregrounded; the narrative prepares the reader to see Lakṣmaṇa’s steadiness as dharmic fortitude.
