Er presste den Baumstamm gegen seine Brust, stützte ihn mit der Hand ab, bog ihn leicht und riss ihn dann heraus – wie ein Elefant, der einen Baum entwurzelt.
Compressing the trunk of the tree on the chest with one hand and bending forward a little its branches with another hand, he (Angada) tore Kumbha in that way in the great fight like an elephant.
The verse illustrates dharma as vigorous right effort: when duty demands resistance to adharma, one must act with full strength and resolve.
Angada, though injured, uproots the tree he has seized, preparing it as a weapon in the fight.
Indomitable will (dhṛti): Angada’s capacity to continue and escalate his response despite wounds.
