The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
ततोहरीणांतदनीकमुग्रंदुद्रावशूलंनिशितंप्रगृह्य ।तस्थौ स तस्यापततःपुरस्तान्महीधराग्रंहनुमान् प्रगृह्य ।।।।
tato harīṇāṃ tad anīkam ugraṃ dudrāva śūlaṃ niśitaṃ pragṛhya |
tasthau sa tasyāpatataḥ purastān mahīdharāgraṃ hanumān pragṛhya ||
Dann, einen scharfen, spitzen Speer ergreifend, stürmte er wütend auf jenes furchtbare Heer der Vānara zu. Doch Hanumān, der einen Berggipfel packte, stand unbeweglich und hielt ihn vor sich, als der Angreifer heranbrauste.
Thereafter Kumbhakarna holding a sharp pike rushed towards Hanuman who uprooted a mountain peak and obstructed him placing it before him.
Dharma here is seen as steadfast protection of one’s allies: Hanumān does not flee; he stands firm and interposes a barrier, embodying righteous courage and duty toward the Vānara host.
Satya is implied as fidelity to one’s vowed purpose: Hanumān’s unwavering stance signals truth to commitment—acting in accordance with the cause he serves, without deception or wavering.
