The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
हनुमान् शैलशृङ्गाणिशिलाश्चविविधान् द्रुमान् ।।।।ववर्षकुम्भकर्णस्यशिरस्यम्बरमास्थितः ।
hanumān śailaśṛṅgāṇi śilāś ca vividhān drumān | vavarṣa kumbhakarṇasya śirasy ambaram āsthitaḥ ||
Im Himmel stehend ließ Hanumān Bergspitzen, Felsblöcke und mancherlei Bäume auf Kumbhakarṇas Haupt herabregnen.
Stationed in the sky Hanuman rained mountain peaks, rocks, and huge trees of several kinds on the head of Kumbhakarna.
Dharma appears as loyal service (sevā) aligned to a righteous cause: Hanumān acts decisively to protect Rāma’s mission. Strength is portrayed as meaningful when directed toward safeguarding dharma.
In the battle sequence, Hanumān takes an aerial position and attacks Kumbhakarṇa by dropping heavy natural weapons.
