The ten headed indomitable Lord of Rakshasas with his arrows that resembled serpents, dreadful, capable of piercing into vital parts began to strike at Neela, the leader of monkeys.
It highlights the reality of violent conflict where adharma often expresses itself as ruthless, vital-point targeting; Dharma for the defenders is steadfastness and protection of the host despite such tactics.
Rāvaṇa turns his weapons on Nīla and showers him with fierce, penetrating arrows.
Nīla’s leadership is emphasized by naming him commander; he bears the brunt of attack as a protector of the vānaras.
