वज्रदंष्ट्रंहतंदृष्टवाराक्षसाभयमोहिताः ।।6.54.36।।त्रस्ताह्यभ्यद्रवन् लङ्कांवध्यमानाःप्लवङ्गमैः ।विषण्णवदना: दीनाह्रियाकिञ्चिदवाङ्मुखाः ।।6.54.37।।
śūrāṇāṃ yudyamānānāṃ samareṣv anivartinām |
tad rākṣasa-gaṇānāṃ ca suyuddhaṃ samavartata ||6.54.7||
Unter den im Kampf verstrickten Helden, die im Zusammenstoß nicht wichen, wurde das Ringen der Rākṣasa-Heere zu einem wahrhaft erbitterten Krieg.
Deluded with fear, the Rakshasas seeing Vajradamshtra killed by monkeys, panic stricken, heads bent in shame, faces woebegone fled to Lanka.
It points to kṣātra-dharma (warrior duty): steadfastness and refusal to abandon one’s post, while implying that such firmness must ultimately serve a righteous end.
The battle escalates into an intense, sustained confrontation with neither side yielding.
