सीताविलापः—त्रिजटासान्त्वनं च
Sita’s Lament and Trijata’s Consolation
आधिराज्येऽभिषेकोमेब्राह्मणैःपतिनासह ।कृतान्तकुशलैरुक्तंतत्सर्वंवितथीकृतम् ।।।।
ādhirājye 'bhiṣeko me brāhmaṇaiḥ patinā saha |
kṛtāntakuśalair uktaṃ tat sarvaṃ vitathīkṛtam ||
Die Brahmanen, kundig im Lesen des Geschicks, sagten, ich würde zusammen mit meinem Gemahl zur königlichen Herrschaft geweiht; doch all dies ist zur Unwahrheit gemacht worden.
"The prediction of astrologers that I will be consecrated with my husband and all that is falsified."
The verse shows how suffering can shake confidence in predictions; dharma teaches perseverance in truth even when outcomes appear to contradict righteous expectation.
Believing Rāma dead, Sītā concludes that earlier prophecies about her shared coronation with him have been overturned.
Moral steadfastness under existential doubt—Sītā voices despair but remains anchored to her identity as Rāma’s faithful wife.
