विभीषणाभिषेकः
The Consecration of Vibhishana and Counsel on Crossing the Ocean
अनुजोरावणस्याहंतेनचाप्यवमानितः ।भवन्तंसर्वभूतानांशरण्यंशरणागतः ।।6.19.4।।
anujo rāvaṇasyāhaṃ tena cāpy avamānitaḥ | bhavantaṃ sarvabhūtānāṃ śaraṇyaṃ śaraṇāgataḥ ||6.19.4||
Ich bin Rāvaṇas jüngerer Bruder, und von ihm bin ich entehrt worden. Zu dir bin ich als Schutzsuchender gekommen — zu dir, dem Zufluchtsort aller Wesen.
"I am Ravana's younger brother. Having been put to shame I came to seek protection from you who are the protector of all beings " (Vibheeshana said to Rama)."
The dharma of śaraṇāgati: admitting one’s situation truthfully and seeking rightful protection from a just protector; it also implies the king’s dharma to protect those who surrender.
Vibhīṣaṇa introduces himself to Rāma and formally seeks asylum after being humiliated by Rāvaṇa.
Vibhīṣaṇa’s integrity and courage in choosing dharma over familial allegiance to adharma.
