Rama-Stava: Brahma Reveals Rama’s Nārāyaṇa Identity
ततोहिदुर्मनाराम्श्रुत्वैवंवदतांगिरः ।दध्यौमुहूर्तंधर्मात्माबाष्पव्याकुललोचनः ।।।।
tato hi durmanā rāmaḥ śrutvaivaṃ vadatāṃ giraḥ | dadhyau muhūrtaṃ dharmātmā bāṣpavyākulalocanaḥ ||6.120.1||
Da wurde Rāma, der rechtschaffene, als er solche Worte der Menschen vernahm, von Kummer ergriffen; einen Augenblick sann er nach, die Augen von Tränen getrübt und bewegt.
Then righteous Rama, hearing the wailing of the people, whose eyes were dimmed with tears, remained for a moment.
Dharma is joined with karuṇā (compassion): even a victorious, duty-bound leader remains sensitive to the suffering and voices of the people.
After hearing public lamentation, Rāma momentarily stops, overwhelmed with emotion.
Empathy and reflective restraint—he does not react hastily but pauses in thought.
