kvāsi gantā mahākāya kṣudhitāyā mamepsitaḥ | bhakṣaḥ prīṇaya me dehaṃ ciram āhāravarjitam ||
'O huge monkey! where are you going? I am hungry since long. I am going without food and must eat you. Make me satisfied'.
The verse illustrates adharma as predatory violence and selfish appetite. By contrast, dharma is restraint and protection of the innocent—qualities Hanuman embodies by refusing to be diverted from his righteous mission.
Siṁhikā attempts to stop Hanuman mid-flight over the ocean by threatening to devour him, declaring him her long-awaited prey.
Hanuman’s mission-integrity and courage are implied: he is confronted with unjust aggression and will respond decisively without abandoning his duty to find Sītā.
