Indrajit’s Deployment—Brahmāstra Binding, Hanuman’s Capture, Entry into Ravana’s Court
अथेन्द्रजित्तु द्रुमचीरबद्धं विचार्य वीरः कपिसत्तमं तम्।विमुक्तमस्त्रेण जगाम चिन्तां नान्येन बद्धो ह्यनुवर्ततेऽस्त्रम्।।।।
athendrajit tu drumacīra-baddhaṃ vicārya vīraḥ kapisattamaṃ tam |
vimuktam astreṇa jagāma cintāṃ nānyena baddho hy anuvartate ’stram ||
Da geriet der Held Indrajit, nachdem er den besten der Affen erwogen hatte — mit Rindenbändern gebunden und doch vom Band der Astra befreit — ins Nachdenken: „Wahrlich, wird eine andere Fessel angelegt, so besteht die Fessel der Astra nicht fort.“
Then the heroic Indrajit coming to know that the foremost of the monkeys bound by bark ropes was released from the bondage of Brahmastra, thought, 'indeed the divine weapon does not tolerate other bonds, so the vanara is released'.
Dharma includes right understanding of power: even in conflict, one must know the limits and laws governing one’s tools (astras), rather than act in ignorance.
Indrajit notices Hanumān is still tied with bark-ropes but no longer under the astra’s binding, and reasons out why.
Indrajit’s tactical reasoning (buddhi), though employed for adharma, shows keen awareness of weapon-law and consequence.
