Hanuman Enters Lanka and Encounters Laṅkā-devatā
On hearing the words of ogress of Lanka, the son of the Wind-god stood up ready and appeared like another mountain.
Right use of strength guided by wisdom: the verse pairs sattva (power) with medhā (intelligence), suggesting dharmic action requires both.
The narrator describes Hanumān’s assessment of the guardian’s fearsome form before he replies.
Prudence with strength—Hanumān is not merely forceful; he is discerning.
