काकुत्स्थस्य शोकनिग्रहः—सुग्रीवसान्त्वनम्
Rama’s Grief Restrained—Sugriva’s Consolation
व्यसने वाऽर्थकृच्छ्रे वा भये वा जीवितान्तके।विमृशन्वै स्वया बुद्ध्या धृतिमान्नावसीदति।।
vyasane vā ’rthakṛcchre vā bhaye vā jīvitāntake | vimṛśan vai svayā buddhyā dhṛtimān nāvasīdati ||
Ob in Unheil, in Geldnot, in Furcht oder selbst am Rand des Todes: Wer mit eigenem Verstand erwägt und standhaft ist, versinkt nicht in Verzweiflung.
'Restrain the flow of your tears. Be patient. Men (like you) endowed with equilibrium and dignity and patience ought not to leave their composure.
Dharma of right-mindedness: discernment (buddhi) and steadiness (dhṛti) prevent collapse into despair across all crises.
Sugrīva generalizes a moral teaching to strengthen Rāma’s resolve amid suffering.
Prājñā (practical wisdom) allied with dhṛti—thinking clearly under pressure.
