Jāmbavān Rekindles Hanūmān’s Power
'O great monkey! while falling fast in space, wise Indra hurled his thunderbolt quickly at you, in anger.
The verse cautions that krodha (anger) can drive even the wise toward harmful action; dharma requires restraint and proportion, especially when exercising power.
During Hanumān’s childhood incident, as he falls through the sky, Indra strikes him with the vajra in anger.
Indra’s ‘dhīmat’ (wisdom) is stated, but the episode highlights the need to temper authority with self-control—true virtue is wisdom governed by restraint.
