With a pale white umbrella over his head, white yaktail fans and sounds of conches and drums, Sugriva set out receiving greetings from monkeys, rejoicing in his royal glory.
The verse reflects rājadharma and social order: rightful kingship is affirmed through public recognition and service, showing that political authority is not merely seized but ceremonially validated by the community.
Sugrīva’s “attained royal splendor” follows the restoration of his rightful position; the public acclamation symbolizes the establishment of truth in governance—legitimate rule replacing wrongful possession.
