Sugriva’s Coronation and Angada’s Installation
ततस्ते वानरश्रेष्ठं यथाकालं यथाविधि।रत्नैर्वस्त्रैश्च भक्ष्यैश्च तोषयित्वा द्विजर्षभान्।।
tatas te vānaraśreṣṭhaṃ yathākālaṃ yathāvidhi |
ratnair vastraiś ca bhakṣyaiś ca toṣayitvā dvijarṣabhān॥
Dann, o Bester der Affen, zur rechten Zeit und nach rechter Vorschrift, erfreuten sie die Vornehmsten der Zweimalgeborenen—die Brahmanen—mit Juwelen, Gewändern und Speisegaben.
Then they duly propitiated the brahmins, offering them gifts of gems, clothes and eatables.
Dāna (charitable giving) and honoring the learned are duties that uphold social and ritual order; doing so “at the right time and by right method” highlights disciplined dharma rather than impulsive generosity.
After arranging consecration materials, the vānaras offer gifts—jewels, clothing, and food—to the brahmins officiating the rites.
Respect for sacred authority and generosity regulated by propriety (yathākāla, yathāvidhi).
