प्रलोभनम् — Rambhā’s Temptation and Viśvāmitra’s Curse
बभूवास्य मनश्चिन्ता तपोऽपहरणे कृते ।नैव क्रोधं गमिष्यामि न च वक्ष्ये कथञ्चन।।1.64.17।।
babhūvāsya manaś cintā tapo ’paharaṇe kṛte | naiva krodhaṃ gamiṣyāmi na ca vakṣye kathaṃcana || 1.64.17 ||
Als sein asketisches Verdienst geschmälert war, erhob sich in seinem Geist der Entschluss: „Nie wieder werde ich dem Zorn nachgeben, und niemals werde ich in solcher Weise sprechen.“
Having been deprived of his ascetic merit, he resolved not to lose his temper nor ever breathe a word".
Dharma is upheld through deliberate vows: restraining anger and restraining speech are both ethical disciplines, protecting truthfulness and non-harm.
After realizing the loss caused by anger, Viśvāmitra forms a firm inner resolution to avoid anger and harsh utterance.
Self-regulation—especially mastery over speech (vāk-saṃyama) and temper.
