त्रिशङ्कुस्वर्गारोহণम्
Trishanku’s Bodily Ascent and the New Constellations
सशरीरस्य भद्रं वस्त्रिशङ्कोरस्य भूपते:।आरोहणं प्रतिज्ञाय नानृतं कर्तुमुत्सहे।।।।
saśarīrasya bhadraṁ vas triśaṅkor asya bhūpateḥ |
ārohaṇaṁ pratijñāya nānṛtaṁ kartum utsahe || 1.60.27 ||
Wohlergehen sei euch. Da ich diesem König Triśaṅku den Aufstieg in den Himmel in seinem eigenen Leib verheißen habe, vermag ich mein Wort nicht zur Unwahrheit zu machen.
"I wish you well! Having promised king Trisanku ascent to heaven with his physical form, I do not wish to go back on my word.
Satya (truthfulness) and fidelity to one’s vow are treated as paramount; violating a promise is adharma even when pressured by higher powers.
Viśvāmitra explains that he is acting to keep his promise to Triśaṅku, despite objections based on eligibility.
