Sita’s Resolve to Accompany Rama to the Forest
kiṃ tvā amanyata vaidehaḥ pitā me mithilādhipaḥ | rāma jāmātaraṃ prāpya striyaṃ puruṣa-vigraham || 2.30.3 ||
O Rama! while accepting you as son-in-law did my father, king of Mithila and lord of Videha ever think that you are a woman in the guise of a man?
It challenges wavering in duty: Sītā invokes the expected dharma of a kṣatriya hero—steadfastness and courage in hardship.
Sītā rebukes Rāma’s reluctance/hesitation about her going with him, using sharp rhetorical questioning.
Sītā’s boldness and resolve—she asserts her rightful place beside Rāma in adversity.
