लोकसमुत्पत्ति-वर्णनम् तथा इक्ष्वाकुवंश-प्रशंसा

सर्वं सलिलमेवासीत्पृथिवी यत्र निर्मिता।तत: स‌मभवद्ब्रह्मा स्वयम्भूर्दैवतै: स‌ह।।।।

sarvaṃ salilam evāsīt pṛthivī yatra nirmitā |

tataḥ samabhavad brahmā svayambhūr daivataiḥ saha ||

Am Anfang war alles nur Wasser, aus dem die Erde gebildet wurde; danach trat Brahmā, der Svayambhū, zusammen mit den Göttern in Erscheinung.
