FAQs

It uses phala-śruti style praise to state that a particular sacred act/place (implied by context) grants merit exceeding that of all other tīrthas combined, quantified as “ten thousand tīrthas” and “three crores more.”

Prabhāva indicates an intrinsic sacred potency—spiritual efficacy—by which the referenced tīrtha or observance is said to produce greater religious merit (phala).

In Purāṇic usage, such large numbers often function rhetorically to highlight extraordinary sanctity and to encourage pilgrimage/observance, though traditions may also treat them as literal measures of merit.
