FAQs

It states that the region (varṣa) came to be known as Ilāvṛta because it was named after Ila.

The verse associates King Ila with the prestigious royal genealogies of the Purāṇas—linking him to the lunar and solar dynastic streams to emphasize legitimacy and dynastic continuity.

It highlights how sacred geography and royal genealogy intertwine in Purāṇic narration: places are remembered through exemplary figures, and rulers are praised for sustaining and expanding righteous lineages.
