वृत्तिश्शाकेन दुःखेन तथा शिलोंछतो भृशम् । जर्जरं वस्त्रयुग्मं च करौ पात्रे च सर्वदा

vṛttiśśākena duḥkhena tathā śiloṃchato bhṛśam | jarjaraṃ vastrayugmaṃ ca karau pātre ca sarvadā

Er lebte in Elend, nährte sich nur von Gemüse und war schwer bedrückt wie einer, der herabgefallene Körner aufliest. Er besaß ein Paar zerschlissener Gewänder, und seine Hände hielten stets eine Almosenschale.
