स्वयं भुंजीत वै पश्चात्सबंधुर्बालकैः सह । अथवा नैव संपत्तिस्तीर्थे दानं च भाजनम्

svayaṃ bhuṃjīta vai paścātsabaṃdhurbālakaiḥ saha | athavā naiva saṃpattistīrthe dānaṃ ca bhājanam

Man soll zuerst die Abhängigen speisen—die Verwandten zusammen mit den Kindern—und erst danach selbst essen. Andernfalls ist der Reichtum ohne Nutzen: am heiligen Ort wird er bloß zu etwas, das man weggeben muss, und man taugt nur noch als ein „Gefäß“ für Almosen.
