Application: In Māgha (or any sacred season), practice proportionate giving—especially food/oil/sesame-related charity—while consciously offering the act to Viṣṇu; keep the vow gentle but consistent.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

It recommends tiladāna—donating sesame seeds—specifically during the month of Māgha, given to a dvija (typically a brāhmaṇa), and performed with devotion.

It links the act of giving not merely to ritual correctness but to bhakti (devotion) and sincerity, stating that devotion and capacity-based giving lead to Viṣṇu’s abode.

Charity should be done within one’s means (yathāśakti) and with heartfelt devotion, valuing intention and humility over display or excess.
