The Greatness of the Jayantī Vow

Fast, Vigil, and Worship of Hari/Kṛṣṇa

कन्याकोटिसहस्राणां दाने भवति यत्फलम् । तत्फलं समवाप्नोति जयंत्यां समुपोषणे

kanyākoṭisahasrāṇāṃ dāne bhavati yatphalam | tatphalaṃ samavāpnoti jayaṃtyāṃ samupoṣaṇe

Concept: The sanctifying power of Jayantī upavāsa is proclaimed as equivalent to the highest-classical gifts, even those considered supremely meritorious.

Application: Read as rhetorical exaltation: prioritize ethical devotion, self-restraint, and compassionate giving; avoid literalizing problematic gift-imagery and instead take the intended message—inner discipline surpasses external display.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A symbolic, allegorical tableau: on one side, a grand ritual pavilion with rows of ceremonial seats and gift-registries representing ‘mahā-dāna’; on the other, a single vrati on Jayantī sits in quiet fasting before a Vishnu lamp, the air shimmering with unseen merit. The composition makes the vow’s invisible spiritual weight feel heavier than the spectacle of worldly rites.","primary_figures":["vratin (Jayantī observer)","Vishnu (as a radiant emblem or altar icon)","priests","allegorical attendants holding scrolls of dāna"],"setting":"Ritual pavilion juxtaposed with a simple Vishnu shrine corner; banners, kalashas, sacred fire implied but subdued","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["ivory white","vermillion","royal blue","antique gold","smoke gray"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central Vishnu emblem with gold-leaf aura, foreground vrati in austere posture, side panels showing a grand mahā-dāna pavilion as an allegory (not literalized), ornate pillars and arches, rich reds and greens, heavy gold embossing to contrast outer grandeur with inner devotion.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: split-scene composition—left a stylized ceremonial court with delicate figures and textiles, right a quiet shrine with the fasting devotee; cool blues and soft reds, fine linework, restrained symbolism emphasizing contemplation over spectacle.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: iconic, didactic panel with Vishnu motif above, vrati centered, attendants and priests arranged symmetrically; bold outlines, flat yet vibrant color fields, temple-wall narrative clarity.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central lotus medallion with Vishnu symbols, surrounding border of floral vines, the vrati seated below, and miniature vignettes around the border representing ‘mahā-dāna’ as symbolic scenes; deep blues, gold highlights, intricate textile patterns."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"dramatic","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"moderate-narrative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["single bell tolls","low drone (tanpura)","brief silence between lines","soft conch in distance"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: यत्फलम् = यत् + फलम्; तत्फलं = तत् + फलम्
