Sandhi Resolution Notes: अंधभावं = अन्ध + भावम् (compound; anusvāra in IAST aṃdhabhāvaṃ).
The verse centers on intense parental grief—two brāhmaṇas are mentally afflicted by separation from their son and repeatedly weep.
It literally means “they entered a state of blindness,” suggesting that their suffering culminated in becoming blind (physically and/or as a narrative marker of overwhelming sorrow).
It underscores how attachment and loss can overwhelm the mind, and how unchecked grief can lead to further decline—prompting reflection on steadiness, endurance, and spiritual grounding amid suffering.
