FAQs

The verse addresses a brāhmaṇa (a “twice-born” person) respectfully as “the best among the twice-born,” indicating the listener is a revered learned recipient of the narration.

Calling the vow “exceedingly rare” frames it as both difficult to obtain/perform and spiritually precious, heightening its perceived merit and the seriousness with which it is received.

It emphasizes attentive listening to sacred narration and the transformative impact of hearing about dharmic observances—hearing inspires resolve toward disciplined practice (vrata).
