सोमशर्मोवाच । पूर्वजन्मकृतं पापं त्वयाख्यातं च मे मुने । शूद्रत्वेन तु विप्रेन्द्र मयैव परिवर्जितम्

somaśarmovāca | pūrvajanmakṛtaṃ pāpaṃ tvayākhyātaṃ ca me mune | śūdratvena tu viprendra mayaiva parivarjitam

Somaśarmā sprach: „O Weiser, du hast mir die Sünde kundgetan, die in einer früheren Geburt begangen wurde. Doch, o Bester der Brāhmaṇas, ich selbst habe den Stand eines Śūdra abgelegt.“
