Marks of the Debt-Bound/Enemy Son, Filial Dharma, Detachment, and the Durvāsā–Dharma Episode

Concept: Dharma is completed by steady cultivation of its limbs; small consistent acts accumulate into fullness.

Application: Build dharma like nutrition: do not wait for grand gestures—practice small daily disciplines (truth, cleanliness, charity, non-harm) until they become a complete character.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A ten-petaled lotus labeled with virtues floats above a calm practitioner; each petal lights up as the person performs a small daily act—like placing a morsel into the mouth. The belly’s warmth becomes a metaphorical golden orb, showing dharma becoming ‘complete’ through steady, measured practice.","primary_figures":["practitioner (gender-neutral)","personified Dharma as a lotus-emblem"],"setting":"simple hermitage interior opening to a courtyard; a small plate of food in the foreground mirrors the teaching","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["warm gold","copper brown","lotus white","deep maroon","sage green"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central figure seated in calm discipline, ten-petaled lotus of dharma above the head, each petal embossed with gold leaf; foreground shows a ritual plate with measured morsels symbolizing incremental practice; rich reds and greens, ornate halo-work, traditional iconographic symmetry.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: gentle interior-courtyard scene with delicate shading; a translucent lotus mandala hovering above, petals softly illuminated one by one; refined minimalism, pastel earth tones, lyrical metaphor made visual.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold lotus mandala with ten segments, central practitioner, stylized food-morsel motif leading to a glowing ‘pūrṇatā’ orb at the abdomen; strong outlines, natural pigments, temple-wall compositional balance.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: lotus-centric mandala with ten petals, ornate floral borders; symbolic morsels arranged like offerings; deep blue background with gold and white lotus highlights, intricate patterning suggesting gradual completion."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Bhupali","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["soft silence","single bell strike","gentle breath","distant conch"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: एतैर्दशभिरंगैस्तु = एतैः + दशभिः + अङ्गैः + तु; धर्ममेवं = धर्मम् + एवम्; यथोदरे = यथा + उदरे.

FAQs

Dharma is completed through consistent practice of its components—here described as ten “limbs”—just as the stomach is satisfied through repeated mouthfuls of food.

It emphasizes gradual accumulation: righteousness is not perfected instantly, but by repeated, concrete acts that collectively mature into complete dharma.

Sustained small actions matter—regularly practicing the virtues or duties that constitute dharma leads to a stable, complete moral and spiritual life.
