The Greatness of Gayā
Gayā-Māhātmya
क्रियते पतितानां तु गते संवत्सरे क्वचित् । देशकालप्रमाणत्वाद्गया कूपे स्वबंधुभिः ॥ ४३ ॥
kriyate patitānāṃ tu gate saṃvatsare kvacit | deśakālapramāṇatvādgayā kūpe svabaṃdhubhiḥ || 43 ||
Für jene jedoch, die von der vorgeschriebenen Lebensführung abgefallen sind, wird das Ritual nur zu bestimmten Zeiten vollzogen—mitunter erst nach Ablauf eines Jahres—denn seine Gültigkeit hängt von rechtem Ort und rechter Zeit ab; daher führen es die eigenen Verwandten am Gayā-Brunnen (Gayā-kūpa) aus.
