Matsya Purana — Vrata-Ṣaṣṭhī: The Sixty Sacred Vows, Shloka 29

यावत्समा भवेद्यस्तु पञ्चदश्यां पयोव्रतः समान्ते श्राद्धकृद्दद्यात् पञ्च गास्तु पयस्विनीः //

yāvatsamā bhavedyastu pañcadaśyāṃ payovrataḥ samānte śrāddhakṛddadyāt pañca gāstu payasvinīḥ //

Wer am fünfzehnten Mondtag das Milchgelübde (payo-vrata) auf sich nimmt und es so viele Jahre fortführt, wie er es beschlossen hat—der soll nach Ablauf dieser Jahre, nachdem er das Śrāddha vollzogen hat, fünf milchgebende Kühe als Gabe darbringen.
