उपसर्गानशेषांस्तु महामारीसमुद्भवान् ।

तथा त्रिविधमुत्पातं माहात्म्यं शमयेन्रमम् ॥

upasargān aśeṣāṃs tu mahāmārīsamudbhavān |

tathā trividham utpātaṃ māhātmyaṃ śamayen mama ||

Doch mein Māhātmya wird alle Leiden besänftigen, die aus großen Seuchen entstehen, und ebenso die dreifachen Unheilszeichen (utpāta).

Purāṇic devotion is presented as social medicine: the recitation is not only personal solace but also a communal śānti-practice in times of epidemic and collective anxiety.
