Adhyaya 71The King’s Remorse and the Sage’s Counsel on the Necessity of a Wife

यदा तु याचिता नन्दा न ददाति नृपोत्तम ।

मूका भविष्यसीत्याह तदा तां तनयां पिता ॥

yadā tu yācitā nandā na dadāti nṛpottama / mūkā bhaviṣyasīty āha tadā tāṃ tanayāṃ pitā

Als man jedoch Nandā befragte und sie (jene Frau) nicht herausgab, o bester der Könige, da sagte ihr Vater zu seiner Tochter: „Du sollst stumm werden.“
