Adhyaya 58 — The Kurma-Form of Narayana: Mapping Bharata through Nakshatras, Regions, and Planetary Afflictions
शुभोदयम् प्रहाणिं च पापानां द्विजसत्तम ।
प्रज्ञाहानिं प्रकुर्व्युस्ते द्रव्यादीनाञ्च कुर्वते ॥
śubhodayaṃ prahāniṃ ca pāpānāṃ dvijasattama / prajñāhāniṃ prakurvyus te dravyādīnāṃ ca kurvate //
Sündhafte Einflüsse bewirken den Verlust des glückverheißenden Aufstiegs und des Wohlstands, o Bester der Brahmanen; sie rauben die Einsicht und verursachen auch den Verlust von Reichtum und dergleichen.

Misfortune is linked to moral/inauspicious causality: decline is not only material (wealth) but also cognitive (prajñā), hence dharmic living and remedial measures are urged.
