Adhyaya 47 — Brahma’s Awakening and the Ninefold Scheme of Creation

Ethically, the verse supports the idea that moral responsibility and dharmic choice correlate with degrees of discernment (viveka). It also frames compassion: beings with tamas-dominance are not ‘wicked’ but limited in cognition.
Sarga: description of a created class (animals) and its guṇa-profile.
‘Sideways’ indicates consciousness absorbed in sensory immediacy and survival loops—movement across phenomena rather than ascent into clarity.
