vighrāya tasya vai doṣā jāyante tan nibodha me / bādhiryaṃ jaḍatā lopaḥ smṛter mūkatvam andhatā

Improperly pursued yoga can harm rather than heal. The Purāṇic tradition often frames yogic discipline as powerful and therefore requiring correct guidance, moderation, and suitable conditions.
A practical-ethical admonition; not pancalakṣaṇa narrative.
The listed impairments can also be read symbolically: ‘deafness’ to instruction, ‘blindness’ to truth, ‘loss of memory’ of the Self—showing that wrong practice clouds jñāna.
